Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 2025 · Last updated: June 2025
This Privacy Policy explains how LearnKeenly ("LearnKeenly", "the site", "we", "us", or "I", referring to Md. Meeran) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you visit learnkeenly.com or subscribe to its newsletter. It also explains the choices and rights you have regarding that information. I have tried to write it in plain, honest language while still covering what a thorough policy should.
By using this site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the site.

1. Who we are
LearnKeenly is an independent, individually run blog about writing tools and the craft of writing. It is operated by Md. Meeran, based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is not a company and has no employees; it is one person writing and maintaining a website. For the purposes of data protection law, Md. Meeran is the "data controller" responsible for the limited information described in this policy. You can reach us at any time at support@learnkeenly.com.
2. A plain-language summary
If you only read one section, read this one. In short:
- We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate website usage, such as popular pages, device types, and general traffic trends.
- If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address (with our email provider, Brevo) only to send you the newsletter, and you can leave at any time.
- Our contact form opens your own email app rather than submitting data to a server, so a message only reaches us if you choose to send it.
- We never sell or rent your information to anyone.
- Some outbound links, particularly to Brevo, are referral links.
The rest of this policy explains each of these points in detail.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information collected automatically
When you visit LearnKeenly, Google Analytics may collect usage information such as the pages viewed, visit time, approximate region, referral source, browser, and device type. Hostinger may also process limited technical server information such as an IP address, request time, and the requested file to deliver the website, maintain security, and diagnose faults. We use analytics in aggregate to improve the site rather than to identify readers personally.
3.2 Information you provide voluntarily
We only receive personal information that you actively choose to give us. This includes: (a) your email address, if you subscribe to the newsletter; (b) the contents of any message you send us, whether by email or through the contact form, including your name and email address if you choose to include them; and (c) any topic suggestion you submit through the site, which is delivered to us by email.
3.3 Information we deliberately do not collect
We want to be clear about what does not happen here. LearnKeenly does not offer user accounts, so there are no passwords or profiles. It does not sell products directly, so it does not collect or process payment-card information on the site. The contact form on the site does not transmit your message to a server; instead it opens your own email application with the message pre-filled, so we receive nothing unless you press send in your own email app. We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data (such as information about health, religion, or political views), and we ask that you do not send such data to us.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
LearnKeenly uses Google Analytics, which may set analytics cookies such as _ga and related identifiers to distinguish visits and measure website usage. We do not use these analytics for our own behavioral advertising, and we do not sell personal information. You can block or delete cookies using your browser settings.
5. How and why we use information
We use the limited information described above only for the following purposes:
- To operate, maintain, and display the website to your browser.
- To understand aggregate traffic and improve articles, navigation, and site performance.
- To send the newsletter to people who have subscribed, and only to them.
- To respond to messages, questions, corrections, and suggestions you send us.
- To protect the site against abuse, spam, and security threats, and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making, profiling that produces legal effects, or behavioural advertising.
6. Legal bases for processing
For visitors in regions where data-protection law (such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation) requires a legal basis for processing personal data, we rely on the following bases:
- Consent — for sending you the newsletter and, where legally required, for non-essential analytics cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — for operating and securing the website, understanding aggregate site usage, responding to reader messages, and preventing abuse, balanced against your rights and freedoms.
- Legal obligation — where we must process or retain information to comply with applicable law.
7. Third-party services we rely on
Running this site involves a small number of trusted third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy that governs its handling of data:
- Google Analytics (provided by Google) — used to measure aggregate website usage. Google processes analytics information under its own privacy terms.
- Brevo (an email-marketing platform, formerly Sendinblue) — used to store newsletter subscriber email addresses and to deliver the newsletter. Brevo processes this data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
- Hostinger, our web hosting provider — which stores and serves the website's files and may process standard server log information required for delivery, reliability, and security.
We share with these providers only what is necessary for them to perform their function, and they act as our service providers / processors.
8. Affiliate and referral links
Some links on this site are affiliate or referral links, including links to Grammarly, QuillBot, and Brevo. If you click such a link and sign up for or purchase a service, we may receive a small commission or account credit, at no additional cost to you. This is disclosed where these links appear. From a privacy standpoint, clicking a referral link takes you to that third party's website, where their own privacy policy and cookies apply, not ours. Referral income, where it occurs, helps keep this site running and independent; it never changes the honesty of what we write.
9. How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. We share information only in these limited situations: (a) with the service providers listed in Section 7, strictly so they can perform their function; (b) where required by law, regulation, valid legal process, or governmental request; and (c) to protect the rights, property, or safety of LearnKeenly, its readers, or the public, including to prevent fraud or abuse. If the site were ever transferred to a new owner, subscriber information could be transferred as part of that, and you would be notified.
10. International data transfers
LearnKeenly is operated from India, and providers such as Google, Brevo, and Hostinger may process and store limited information on servers located in other countries, including within the European Union and the United States. This means information may be processed in countries with different data-protection laws. Where such transfers occur, our providers implement safeguards intended to protect information consistent with applicable law.
11. How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected. Newsletter email addresses are retained for as long as you remain subscribed and are removed from active mailing lists when you unsubscribe. Email correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to handle your query and keep an appropriate record. Analytics information is retained according to the settings configured in Google Analytics. You may ask us to delete information we hold about you at any time (see Section 13).
12. How we protect information
We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect the limited information we handle, and we rely on established providers such as Google, Hostinger, and Brevo that maintain their own security practices. However, no method of transmitting or storing data over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You share information with any website, including this one, at your own risk, and you are responsible for keeping your own devices and email account secure.
13. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — to ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — to ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion — to ask us to delete your information ("right to be forgotten").
- Restriction and objection — to ask us to limit or stop certain processing.
- Portability — to receive certain information in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent — to withdraw consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter.
Newsletter. Every newsletter email contains an unsubscribe link; clicking it removes you from the list immediately, and you can also ask us to remove you by email.
For visitors in the European Union / United Kingdom (GDPR): you have the rights listed above and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
For visitors in California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to deletion, and the right to opt out of the "sale" of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
For visitors in India (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023): you have rights to access, correction, and erasure of your personal data, and to grievance redressal, as provided under that Act.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@learnkeenly.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a Do Not Track signal. Google Analytics and websites do not apply this signal consistently, so you should use browser cookie controls or tracking protection if you do not want analytics cookies stored.
14. Children's privacy
LearnKeenly is intended for a general, adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
15. Links to other websites
This site contains links to third-party websites and tools that we do not control, including the tools we review and our referral partners. This Privacy Policy applies only to LearnKeenly. When you follow a link to another site, that site's own privacy policy governs how it handles your information. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we use, or the law. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes that affect newsletter subscribers may also be communicated in the newsletter. Your continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.

This Privacy Policy is provided in good faith as a clear and reasonably comprehensive description of how this site operates. It is a general statement and not formal legal advice. Data-protection requirements vary by country and change over time; if you have specific legal obligations — particularly if you serve EU, UK, or California audiences at scale — you should have this reviewed and tailored by a qualified professional.
